Super Science: Scientific Method & Lab Safety Lovies



Welcome to "Super Science Sundays;" where each week I will highlight some of the TOP Science Freebies offered by the very best Teachers pay Teachers authors. Each week has a different science theme. SCIENTIFIC METHOD FREEBIE #1

First off, Amy from Science Stuff has a great Scientific Method PowerPoint to share with you. This PowerPoint covers topics on the nature of science and the scientific method. Steps of the scientific method are covered, but more importantly, the lesson provides examples and practice problems illustrating the application of the scientific method. Analysis questions and answers are included.

LAB SAFETY FREEBIE #2

Next is Science Explosion. She has a great Safety Song or Poem Project Rubric! This is a super fun way for students to learn more about lab safety and also make it easier for you to evaluate!

SCIENTIFIC METHOD FREEBIE #3

Next is Maggie from Maggie's Sci-Files. She has a very cool Scientific Method PowerPoint that is very colorful and informative! This digital file contains 9 pages of students notes and 2 formative assessments. Main concepts included: Scientific Method, Hypothesis, observation, inferences, types of observations, quantitative, qualitative, data, purpose, questions, experiment, variables, independent variables, dependent variable, control, collection of data, how to graph, types of graphs, bar graph, pie chart, line graph, conclusion, how to conduct an experiment, example of an experiment and record and organize data.

Next is Frank from Engaging Lessons by Frank, with a simple and informative poster reminding kids how to "Think like a Scientist."

Lastly, Mel & Gerdy from Getting Nerdy with Mel & Gerdy have an excellent What is Science PPT. Thier engaging PowerPoint takes your students through the process of discussing the different ways science can be used in their lives - Who does science? What is science? What ISN'T science? You'll love how it gets It's ideal for getting your students to work together, coming to a consensus, and then creating a cube as a team to display their ideas!

Super Science: Scientific Method & Lab Safety Feature

Next is Jan Washburn. She has some great Interactive Lab Safety Task Cards she would like to share with you. This would be a great web-quest that you could use to either introduce or review lab safety.
